Money Money Money!

In Maths we have been learning about Money. Today the Year 2's had to use the correct coins to purchase items in our shop. Some of us even got creative and thought up tricky ways to make an amount rather than just using $1 and $2 coins! 

You can help us learn about Money at home by asking us to read prices at the supermarket or reading junk mail and telling you which is the cheapest and most expensive item on each page. We might even be able to tell you how to save some money!

Papa Jack's Visit

This morning Papa Jack came in to teach us Maori. We love it when he comes to see us! We played Ka ki a Haimona (Simon Says) and talked about the greetings tena koe (hello to 1 person) tena korua (hello to 2 people) and tena kotou (hello to 3 or more people).

Papa Jack also taught us how to introduce ourselves in Maori! This afternoon in Piako 2 we practiced this, and are getting pretty good! We bet he will be impressed when he comes to visit us again next Monday ;-)

WE ARE 100 DAYS SMARTER!

Yesterday was our 100th day of school this year! We are 100 days smarter! In Piako 2 we had a big day to celebrate. Our teachers made a whole lot of activities that revolve around the number 100. There were 28 stations with different activities across LC 1, LC 15 and LC 16. At the end of the day Ms Harnett showed us what we would look like as 100 year olds, it was pretty funny!

We had sooo much fun and all had a FANTASTIC day! 

                    We loved making our '100' Monsters!

Jermaine, Ella, Macy and Nicole looked super cool in their 100 glasses! We even got them laminated which we thought was pretty flash!

 Station 8: Skip Counting Hopscotch was a favourite! Noah was a pro!

Mila and Chloe looked great in the beautiful 100 Glasses they made! 

       We were all busy bee's, so focused on our activities!

     Riley, Max and Petra had fun building a 100 cup tower!

We got to make FAIRY BREAD! We were so excited, it was yummy!

Isabel, Saul, and Jayden were looked like superheroes in their cool glasses!

Naomi, Baeley and T.K won prizes for correctly guessing the bag that had 100 pom poms!

We all had so much fun celebrating!!

Everyone in Piako 2 got a glowstick bracelet to wear home to celebrate being 100 days BRIGHTER!

We are Effective Communicators!

This week we have been learning about being Effective Communicators. On Monday we practiced effectively communicating about our holidays. Lots of us did drawings, built things, wrote stories, or talked with our friends. We worked with our learning partners and had to tell each other why our communication was effective.

We spoke clearly, labelled our pictures, listened carefully to others and asked questions. On Tuesday we worked together to create some criteria for what makes a Novice, Apprentice, Practitioner, and Expert Effective Communicator. We did so well at coming up with this that Miss Crowther will have to come up with something fun for us to do using this criteria we made ;) We wonder what it will be…

Welcome to Term 3!

Welcome back to school for Term 3! We hope everyone had a great holiday.

On Monday we had 3 new friends join us in LC 16. We would like to say a big welcome to Aaron, Issac and Kalas! We are so excited to have you with us in LC 16 and can't wait to get to know you more :) 

         

Right Choice Day!

Today we travelled around the world on our magic carpet as a reward for all the right choices we have been making. Everyone in our class has made so many good choices this term! We are amazing at standing up for/looking after our friends in the playground, being great self-managers, living above the line and taking responsibility for our actions, being kind friends and so many more fantastic things!

We make Miss Crowther SO proud on a daily basis and are always making her smile. We really deserved this fun last day! We had so much fun visiting Russia, Cook Islands, England, Hawaii, Italy and France!

We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday and look forward to seeing all our friends back again next term! :-)
